The family business that controls Cebu Air, one of Asia’s biggest budget airlines, is considering bidding for some of nine government-owned airports in the Philippines that are to be privatised by president Benigno Aquino III beginning next year. Lance Gokongwei, chief executive of Cebu Air, said JG Summit Holdings, the Gokongwei family company, was thinking seriously about acquiring some of the airports, which are to be privatised as part of a $9bn infrastructure upgrading programme.
